1Take heed that you do not do your righteousness before men to be seen by them; but if not, you do not have reward from your Father who is in the heavens.2Therefore, when you do almsgiving, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be glorified by men. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward.3But when you do almsgiving, do not let your left hand know what your right hand does.4so that your almsgiving may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will repay you.
